Our Story
The Expertise Végane Europe company and the EVE Vegan® certification mark were created by Hélène Modrzejewski, a French vegan activist. All decisions made regarding the development of the brand and eligibility criteria are handled by Ms Modrzejewski and her team, in relation to her unique expertise in this field. Today, Expertise Végane Europe is the only French player in the vegan certification market, and its standard is recognised as one of the most demanding in its category.
The story of EVE Vegan® certification mark
The history of EVE Vegan® has its origins in 2013 when Hélène Modrzejewski founded the "L'Annuaire Vegan France", a website dedicated to cataloging vegan businesses, information and products in France. This volunteer project quickly gained immense popularity, attracting 1 million of visitors in 2016 and significantly contributing to the growth of the vegan community.
As the Vegan France Directory gained traction, Hélène was approached by numerous businesses seeking vegan certification. She observed the challenges these businesses faced in obtaining reliable certification, including extended response times and procedures conducted in English with foreign organizations. It was also during this period that she established the Vegan France association, which continues to exist to this day.
This is when the idea of creating a rigorous, transparent, and high-quality vegan certification system in France was born. Hélène conducted extensive research and collaborated with experts in the field to develop EVE Vegan®'s French standard. Hélène is now working to establish EVE Vegan® as an international brand that is changing the world.
Thanks to the success and finances of EVE Vegan®, Hélène has been able to organise events and disseminate information on the subject, enabling French professionals to move forward. She has also helped to raise the profile of vegan farming by achieving the very first vegan certification of a farm in France. She is also behind the listing of vegan farms in Europe (www.vegan-farming.org). Even today, she participates in various programmes promoting the transition to plant-based food.
Today Hélène as more than 10 years of experience in the field through numerous projects such as the Vegan France association, Vegconomist magazine and the EVE Vegan® certification body.

The story of Eve
The choice of our mascot Eve, a magnificent welsh corgi, represents much more than a marketing choice. It embodies the animal for which humanity has developed affection and compassion. With this symbol, we want to express our belief in a future in which all animals will be treated in the same way as cute dogs.

By adopting Eve in our communications, our company aims to raise public awareness of animal rights, by making this symbolic representation a spokesperson for their cause. Cute dogs often arouse the affection and compassion of human beings.
But this devotion quickly disappears when it comes to other animals, especially those we are used to consuming or exploiting. Worse still, their exploitation is justified by numerous cognitive and cultural biases that remove any hope of them being respected, allowed to roam free or having their lives saved.
This initiative reinforces not only the identity of our committed certification body, but also the ethics and values of the company. Eve is our powerful symbol of commitment to a world where all animals are considered and protected in the same way as our favourite pets.

1st November : World Veganism Day
World Veganism Day, celebrated every year on 1 November, is a day dedicated to promoting the vegan lifestyle and raising awareness of the benefits of a vegan diet for individuals, animals and the environment.
This special day provides an opportunity to celebrate the progress made in the vegan movement, as well as to strengthen the commitment to a more compassionate, sustainable and ethical world for all.
The EVE Vegan® certification mark is a certification program mastered by Expertise Vegane Europe company whose objective is to evaluate the conformity of products and processes according to the criteria established in the EVE Vegan® standards of conformity. The objective is to guarantee compliance over time with the requirements for the use of the vegan claim on products or services. By signing up with the EVE Vegan® certification mark, you agree to comply with the certification procedure and the criteria of the standard throughout the duration of the certification.
